No cabe duda de que el gran fenómeno de este mes —porque sí, a la velocidad que van las cosas, los fenómenos se suceden cada 30 días— ha sido ‘DAHMER: Monstruo: La historia de Jeffrey Dahmer’. Cantidades ingentes de horas de visionado en Netflix, gente ansiando disfrazarse del asesino este Halloween, la chavalada idolatrando al Caníbal de Milwaukee al grito de «Bua eske soy yo literal»… Una maravilla, vamos.
De glamourizaciones e investigaciones
Pero, por supuesto, todo éxito, por muy efímero que sea, suele traer su polémica de turno bajo el brazo, y en este caso ha llegado ligada a lo que muchos tildan de glorificación de la figura de Dahmer y a la banalización de sus crímenes en la serie de Ryan Murphy. Problemas que se acrecentaron cuando algunos familiares de las víctimas, e incluso el padre del psicópata, hablaron en contra de la producción.
Con el vendaval aún azotando al show y sus responsables, Murphy al fin se ha manifestado al respecto. Ha sido durante un evento en el cine DGA de Los Ángeles, donde afirmó que ‘La historia de Jeffrey Dahmer’ es fruto de un periodo de documentación muy largo.
«En el transcurso de los tres o tres años y medio en que la estábamos escribiendo, trabajando en ella, contactamos con alrededor de 20 de las familiares y amigos cercanos de la víctima, intentando obtener información y hablar con la gente, y ni una sola persona nos contestó durante ese proceso. Así que confiamos mucho en nuestro increíble grupo de investigadores, que… ni siquiera sé cómo encontraron muchas de estas cosas. Pero fue un gran esfuerzo para intentar descubrir la verdad de estas personas».
Tras escuchar a Murphy sólo queda plantearse si esta argumentación es suficiente para justificar el tono de la serie y lo que se tilda de «glamourización» de una tragedia.
